Three network creates human hotspots

Dunno what the Meerkat is for

IF YOU SEE SOMEONE wandering the streets wearing a skin-tight white suit and carrying a Meerkat that is one of the latest generation of human hotspots.

Mobile operator Three has dressed up some humans and Meerkats turned them out onto England's freezing streets as human hotspots.

They will apparently be seen across London and several other UK regions with the aim of giving people in their vicinity free broadband internet access via WiFi.

Sadly it is not an attempt to cure local unemployment by creating a new form of employment as a mobile hotspot. This is a pity because 99.99 per cent of all Meerkat's are unemployed.

It is a promotion for Three's MiFi system. This is a bit of kit that distributes mobile broadband services out to other computers via a portable battery powered WiFi router.

Three tells us that more people are going online with their mobile gadgets and are in need of a strong and reliable 3G connection. Here is a top ten list of places they want to connect:

1. In the living room 72 per cent.

2. In the bedroom 48 per cent.

3. At work 29 per cent

4. On public transport 24 per cent

5. On the loo 14 per cent

5. Walking 14 per cent

7. In the bath with big toe up the tap 12 per cent

8. In the garden 11 per cent

9. At a bar/club when you have not pulled 9 per cent

10. While shopping 8 per cent

Obviously you are not going to want a bloke in a white suit in your bedroom and god knows if the Meerkat is house trained. We guess Three is hoping you will buy its kit and not need either. µ
