Apple Iphone Flaw scapegoat goes to Cisco

Papermaster works again in this town after all
Mon Nov 15 2010, 10:05

THE BLOKE who was tarred and feathered by the tame Apple press after being blamed for stuffing up Steve Jobs' perfect Iphone 4 has found work at Cisco.

It was on Mark Papermaster's watch that Apple released the Iphone 4 with a design so revolutionary that it needed a rubber band to work.

The truth of the matter was that Papermaster came from IBM which has a different corporate culture from Apple's and he didn't really fit in.

However the fact that he left Apple a few weeks after it was rocked by the "Antennagate" controversy made him an easy scapegoat. This was not helped by the fact that Apple declined to provide a reason for his departure.

Cisco has announced that Papermaster has joined the networking giant as vice president of its silicon switching technology group.

He will be in charge of things like data centres, which after his experience with Jobs' Mob will be refreshingly quiet. Just like his 25 years at IBM. µ
