THE CAPPUCCINO COMPANY, Apple is delaying its IOS 4.2 mobile OS update because of WiFi problems on the Ipad.
The Apple following online press had the release date for IOS 4.2 pinned down for November 12, following the updates to Mac OS X 10.6.5 and ITunes 10.1, which were supposed to come out this Wednesday. However, Apple released only Mac OS X 10.6.5 and has held back the IOS 4.2 upgrade.
Just last week fanbios were tripping the light fandango because Apple was saying that it would roll out IOS 4.2 this month. The IOS Dev Center was geared up to accept apps submissions and Apple released an IOS 4.2 beta build 8C134 for its mobile Ithings.
According to sources that spoke to Macstories, the Ipad was having WiFi connection problems on the current build. Apparently, the Ipad keeps kicking itself off the connection despite being connected to the local network. The bug has been reported on Apple's discussion boards by developers and users along with estimates that it should take another week to sort out.
Since when have WiFi connection issues stopped Apple from rolling out mobile kit for its fans? The company even admitted back in April that a decent WiFi connection wasn't exactly the Ipad's killer feature. In fact, Apple even confessed that in a support bulletin but it still went ahead and released it.
But perhaps after all the flack it's taken over dropped calls on the Iphone 4, it is being a little more cautious now about releasing a defective IOS 4.2 into the hands of its users. µ
Can't wait.........I've been waiting soooo long for this!
Everything you need to know about iPad:http://www.aneesoft.com/tutorials/ipad/index.html
I'm sure you're looking forward to posting such comments on your iPad, then - oh, wait. Never mind.
"Apple's software testing and holding back software and hardware products from the market until they are stable, easy-to-use, and have obtained a level of design and technical perfection is legendary."
Like how after three years, one major OS revision, and a dozen minor ones, they still haven't fixed the @#%$@ MacBook Airport dropout bug?
The irony, telling people to 'learn to spell' and telling them the first character should be lower place and the second should be upper case.
For one thing, it's not spelling, it's capitilization. I've spelt 'capitilization' wrong, perhapse you will say it's not capitilized properly?
I bet you can't spot the irony. :)
This article is absolutely ridiculous!!! First of all it's iPad and iOS. Learn how to spell. Little "i". Secondly, they never had a date "pinned down". Third nothing has been delayed. iOS 4.2 is scheduled to be released "in November" and guess what? It's still November so stop posting fake articles about it being delayed. Lastly the update is for iPhone as well not just iPad. I can't believe how many dummies posted that the iOS update was delayed just because of RUMORS that it would be released today.
"Since when have WiFi connection issues stopped Apple from rolling out mobile kit for its fans? " This writer has no idea what he's talking about. Goes to show any schlepp can write crap on the internet without qualification, knowledge, or intelligence. Apple's software testing and holding back software and hardware products from the market until they are stable, easy-to-use, and have obtained a level of design and technical perfection is legendary. Someone ought to apply the same standards to teh crap written for "The Inquirer."
4.2 has been in Golden Master for a while and there were numerous betas prior to that. How could they only be finding this issue now?
