Twitter links up with Apple

Meeting of minds

FRUIT THEMED peddler of shiny toys Apple has teamed up with microblogging website Twitter to help spread its glorious "Ping" social network.

Ping works within Apple's Itunes music store and lets users follow artists and recommend songs to their chosen circle of friends, if they have any.

Of course since Apple fanbois mostly listen to Coldplay it's really a single band distribution network.

However Twitter has decided to get on board with the project and will allow its more than 175 million registered users to connect their accounts to Ping.

This will mean that Apple fanbois can put Coldplay song previews and links to buy the band's latest album from Itunes in their "tweets" and talk about what Coldplay meant about "Roman cavalry choirs".

Apple tried to do a similar deal with social notworking site Facebook, which has more than 500 million users.

However Facebook did not appear to do what it was told, and probably does not like Coldplay, so Steve Jobs took his Ping elsewhere. µ

The Twit Speaks.

Ping, Bing, whatever next? Bong perhaps. Ping no doubt will go down well in China. Bing will, well, just go down.

Will people who twitter and Ping at the same time actually be Twitterping?

St. Steve caused a nasty smell with Facebook with Ping. That's was one hell of a Ping pong.
