Google’s Gingerbread is even more imminent

MORE SIGNS that Google's sweet-toothed developers are gearing up for Android's Gingerbread release are all over the Internet.

While Google hasn't made any announcement on a date for its next Android update, that hasn't stopped Android watchers from sniffing out release clues.

According to Android Central, it found several clues online over the weekend that point to an imminent release of Gingerbread. It could be nothing more than wishful thinking but the updates are pretty convincing.

There is an update to Adobe Flash Player 10.1 coming out tomorrow. The 4.23MB download is going to be punted out "to ensure that Flash Player loads properly with future OS updates".

Flash is due to fix yet another security issue tomorrow but hadn't made any noise about the future OS update download. It's possible that Google still wants Adobe to keep mum about the OS release while preparing users so their kit will support Gingerbread.

There's a Pro Android 3 pre-release book advertised on Amazon that has just gone live for pre-order. The book is marketed for developers who want to build applications using the latest Android system developer's kit (SDK). There's no date publicised for the book's arrival yet but Amazon always posts content when it has launch information.

There are also rumours that the Gingerbread SDK could be released on November 11. The speculation comes from an anonymous source but it follows the evidence that The INQUIRER reported at the end of October.

Google developers delivered a man-sized gingerbread man at Google's HQ and posted a teaser Youtube video enigmatically tagged, "We've been baking something... and it's pretty sweet".

The company did the same thing with previous versions of Android just before it announced an official release date, so it's had giant éclairs, donuts, cupcakes and frozen yoghurts (Froyo) before. µ
