Making a white Iphone is too much for Apple

Delayed until Spring

WHILE Apple can pack all sorts of cheap parts under the bonnet of a phone and charge a fortune for it, it has admitted that it is baffled when it comes to making a white case.

It seems the technology involved in creating a white case for the Iphone 4 has defeated the finest minds at Apple, as the white Iphone 4 has become the Duke Nukem of mobile phones.

A white version of the phone was supposed to be launched with its black sibling in June. However it was pulled at the last minute for reasons unknown.

All will be well, said Steve Jobs, it will be with us in July. This was then delayed until Christmas. Now we are being told that Apple's geniuses will need all winter to sort out the white case.

Apple spokeswoman Trudy Muller told Reuters that Apple was sorry to disappoint customers waiting for the white Iphone again. She didn't say why it was proving so difficult.

The official line is that the white model is "more challenging to manufacture than we originally expected."

Our guess is that Apple has noticed that the white cases tend to discolour due to the heat of the phone. This has been noticed before in different Apple products, but the Iphone 4 case might be a bit tighter packed and turn yellow more quickly.

If this is the case then Apple must be trying to find a more heat resistant plastic that does not discolour. µ
