Citrix Labs manager does what many would love to do

Sink an Iphone for fun
Fri Oct 08 2010, 17:21

IF YOU HAVE EVER had just about enough of your Iphone and been ready to throw it off the end of a pier then get ready to be envious of Citrix Labs senior manager Adam Jaques.

During a presentation on the advantages of cloud computing and the disadvantages of dropping your handset into toilet at a moment when retrieving it is just too awful to contemplate, Jaques dropped the Iphone he was using into a transparent box full of water.

The revolutionary moment that shows that one of Steve Jobs' magical devices can't walk on water or even float can be seen to occur just seconds before the 1 hour 40 minutes mark.

Other facts of immense interest conveyed during the video are that in 2007, 855,000 mobile phones where lost in the UK and over 30 per cent of them were lost in the bathroom. There must be some very large plug holes in some UK households then.

For more Citrix videos that are no more fun than the 1 hour 39 minutes preceding the Iphone water drop go here. µ

Psst...Pascal

I for one appreciated the excellent Iphone stuff film, just wish he threw the Ipad in there as well. Perhaps there are other ways to dispatch Idevices that they could explore: sledgehammers, microwave ovens, open flames, atomizing them with high power electrical arcs, or some combination of these?

Dear God

Why do you have to put your readers through the misery of over an hour and a half of corporate speech before getting to the part that is actually quoted in the article ?
I am quite interested to know that Citrix PR seminars are available on the Web, and I'm sure that the five people in the world who missed it are overjoyed that, in the end, they were right in skipping the trip and the bad hotels and the lousy dinners and the expenses and can just stream it from the web.
But I am not interested in streaming 90 minutes of a video just to get to the minute and a half I'd like to see.
That is a waste of bandwidth, pure and simple.

There's usually one

"must be some very large plug holes in some UK households then"

My sinks are normal and it'd take a very small phone indeed to fall down them - on the other hand every bathroom has a large enough hole unless you are still using a 'brick'
