HTCsense online registration goes live

It is in the cloud
Thu Oct 07 2010, 18:22

REGISTRATION is now open for the HTCSense.com portal that will allow users to control, back up and manage their Desire HD and Z handsets from any Internet connected computer.

Because the Desire and Z use Android 2.2 they are the only HTC devices capable of fully supporting all of the features on HTCSense.com at present.

Those features include the ability to send and receive text messages via the site at no charge, call diversion to any other number and an ability to trigger the device to ring loudly, even if it's already set on silent mode.

Desire HD and Z owners will also be able to lock their devices and erase content remotely, with all data capable of being synchronised to a new handset via the cloud.

Other features of the website include the ability to register products for a warranty, receive an HTC Sense newsletter and download ringtones and wallpaper for devices.

RIM launched a similar service for its BlackBerry handsets, dubbed BlackBerry Protect, in July. HTCSense.com has much in common with RIM's app as they both aim to provide enhanced security and reduce aggravation for users by enabling extra control over the devices and backing up data to the cloud.

The Desire HD and Z devices are expected to arrive at the end of October, with an official release date still pending. µ

Still wrong

From the top of my head:

EVO 4G
Incredible
Desire
Nexus One
Legend
myTouch 3G Slide
Wildfire

There are many more but these are all phones running Froyo officialy if updated by their owners (for months now for some of them like the desire i own) but they can't benefit from all the sense.com features because they don't run the new Sense UI.

Wrong

It's not because they run Android 2.2 (there's a truckload of other HTC devices that run 2.2 too) but because they run the new Sense UI.
Do your homework staff.

The INQUIRER response: At the Desire HD and Z briefing it was made clear that only they were served by HTCSense online because they had 2.2. What are these truckloads of devices that run 2.2 then? And the new Sense UI only operates on 2.2. So the discriminator here is 2.2.
