THE LIBERATOR OF APPLE DEVICES, The Iphone Dev Team has released its latest jailbreaking tool for IOS 4.1 on the Iphone 3G and the second generation Ipod Touch.
At present the hacking collective has released redsn0w for Intel Macs saying that the Windows version of the tool needs more testing. Nevertheless, the software does work with the latest versions of IOS including both 4.0 and 4.1, and that means users can install applications from different sources and not just those pre-approved by Apple's censors.
The Dev Team warns that users who have previously used the ultrasn0w unlocking tool should not use redsn0w but wait for its pwnagetool to be updated and support IOS 4.1. This release is primarily targeting those who have loaded Apple's vanilla IOS 4.1.
These days it's almost as easy to jailbreak or unlock Iphones as it is to update them through Apple's official channels. Only a small percentage of Iphones are actually jailbroken or unlocked, but enormous credit should go to the coders behind the various applications that are giving users so much freedom.
The release of the redsn0w application follows the appearance of a piece of malware called Greenpois0n that contained a trojan. This release however has no such problems and those who have older Iphone devices and want to set them free can now safely do so, courtesy of the Iphone Dev Team. µ
