Iron Man, bikes and a car

THE INQUIRER is out in San Francisco this week to attend the Oracle Openworld show. As well as lots of fascinating software and hardware announcements, there's also been the usual array of conference 'entertainment' on show.

Here's our selection of images that sum up the event so far, for those of you unfortunate enough not to be here.

americas-cup

The Americas Cup was on display in the entrance to the Moscone centre, giving Oracle CEO Larry Ellison a chance to remind everyone of his sailing prowess and Oracle's sponsorship of the event, which the US won earlier this year.

iron-man-costumes

Costumes from the Iron Man movie were also on show, highlighting Oracle's involvement in the second film in the franchise as a sponsor of Stark Expo.

javaone-sign

See, Java is important to Oracle. Java One is running alongside Openworld in San Francisco this week. We'll be attending the opening keynotes late Monday to see what Intel's VP Doug Fisher and Oracle executive VP Thomas Kurian have to say to the old Sun crew.

javaone-bike

To highlight Jave One, there were some guys on bikes doing stunts. We don't know why.

openworld-car

In the exhibition hall, there was a shortage of freebies and booth babes, but at least the pre-requisite fast car was on show. µ
