THE RUMOUR MILL claims that Nvidia is preparing to launch its next GPU, the GeForce GT430, around the middle of October.

According to Digitimes the Green Goblin's next Fermi based GPU will feature performance in between its GeForce GT240 and the GT220.

Meanwhile, AMD is also set to launch the first GPUs in its Radeon HD 6000 series around the same time, according to sources at the graphics card makers.

Digitimes said that AMD will launch the Radeon HD6700 series GPUs in its HD6000 family for the consumer market.

There are two GPUs, which are codenamed the Barts XT and Barts Pro and are part of the Radeon HD6700 series that will supercede the existing Radeon 5770 and 5750.

Nvidia is set to host its GPU Technology Conference on 20-23 September in the US, which will be a likely time for it to release anything. µ

Too late

Just bought a 5870. Scared of all the substrate issues and connection breakage I've heard of in the past 3 years, even though I have a GTX260 working fine since 10/2008.
Hang on, Nvidia, I'd like you to still be around next time I upgrade - in three years or so.

Middle of Ocrober?

Just in time to get slapped senseless by Northern Islands and the 6700 series that fills in the very gap in AMD's offerings that this GPU sets out to exploit.

Business sense? They must have heard of it...
