PC PERIPHERALS VENDOR Logitech has turned its hand to wireless laptop speakers with its Bluetooth Z515 model.
Decent wireless speakers are still a long way off for audiophiles but Logitech is having a stab with two small wireless speakers. Designed to improve laptop audio and eliminate unsightly cables, the Z515 is due out this month.

The Logitech Z515 wireless speaker set transmits over 2.4GHz and can receive a clear signal up to 15 metres away. Logitech hasn't said if the kit is using 802.11g or 802.11n but we'd assume the Z515 would be capable of a much wider range on 802.11n so we're guessing that it's 802.11g. The kit comes bundled with a wireless adapter you can plug into a USB port for Windows users but Cupertino kit automatically picks up the Z515.
The speakers have dual two-inch drivers so you can push up your bass much more than standard delivery from laptop audio. The Z515 speakers also come with a rechargeable battery. Logitech claimed the set is good for ten hours of playback but take that with a pinch of salt.
"The speakers built into most laptops are tiny and can't always reproduce powerful audio," said Mark Schneider, VP and general manager of Logitech's audio business unit.
"Whether you're an MP3 junkie or a movie lover, our two new laptop speakers make it easy to connect, turn the sound up and lose yourself in the things you love. There's no reason that you can't have quality audio while you're watching the latest YouTube sensation or the newest Hollywood release on your laptop."
Quite. Logitech is also selling a set of Z305 laptop speakers that provide 360 audio. These leech power via USB so they don't need a power connection, and they weigh only half a pound.
Both models will be out this month at £65 for the Z515 and £39 for the Z305. µ
First of for some reason Logitech s left this a mystery...
On their site, the specs say A2DP Bluetooth, so it definitely has BT, and uses this to connect to Iphone etc.
But they also include a dongle for computer usage. But most laptops have BT so why not advertise that you dont even need a dongle???
Are they using propreitary 2.4G for PC, and BT2.4g for Iphones?
absolutely right, tom;
it comes with its own dongle, and its also the 2.4GHz band its using;
but its rather a wifi protocol than a bleutooth protocol i think :D
unless you can find wireless logitec keyboards and other logitec-devices on your cell phone, cause Then I might be wrong. :D
Since when?
