FACTS ABOUT A 10-INCH version of its £350 7-inch Android Froyo Viewpad 7 tablet are being kept a secret by Viewsonic in the run up to the Berlin IFA show that starts this week.
Viewsonic declined to tell The INQUIRER what features its 10-inch version would have, other than confirm that it would be dual-boot, while it has announced further details for the 7-inch tablet that it bleeted about last week.
The Viewpad 7 can be bought from October. Viewsonic has moved beyond its traditional remit as a display manufacturer with its 7-inch tablet that will run Android 2.2, have phone functionality, front and back-facing 3MP cameras and a VGA resolution display. Users will interact with the tablet using a capacitive multi-touch screen and the tablet supports 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth and comes with a full size SIM slot. Punters will be able to use it for VoIP or mobile phone calls and it will have an auto G sensor that reorients the screen. Naturally, the Viewpad 7 will also support the growing number of Android apps.
"We are proud to announce another world first at Viewsonic. 3G phone functionality combined with dual cameras gives the ability for use of Android apps to use augmented reality or video calling on the move with the benefit of an excellent 7-inch screen," said Derek Wright, European product marketing manager.
The company announced that at IFA it would also showcase 3D kit, media streamers and all-in-one PCs. The INQUIRER will be reporting from IFA from this Wednesday to Friday. µ
