Red Hat goes all Green Beret

You're in the army now

FORMER GREEN BERET and head of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Hugh Shelton (retired) has joined Red Hat as its new chairman.

Shelton has been a member of Red Hat's board since 2003 and in what must have been an intended pun analysts have already said that discipline can only improve with the former 82nd Airborne chief in charge.

"Clearly having people driven by orders and being used to getting them obeyed, would help Red Hat," said the always available for a quote industry analyst Rob Enderle.

Red Hat president Jim Whitehurst did not confirm that his board would now have to make low level parachute jumps or eat things that would make a billy goat puke, but instead heaped praise on the ex-soldier.

"General Shelton is an individual of the utmost integrity. He has excelled in the numerous roles and positions held throughout his career. General Shelton possesses the right combination of leadership, experience and industry knowledge to help guide Red Hat toward achieving its future goals," Whitehurst said, omitting that quite often ex-military officers lead companies in bids for US Department of Defense contracts. µ
