PURPORTED BENCHMARKS for AMD's next generation Radeon HD6870 GPU have appeared on the Chinese website Pcinlife.
A 3DMark score for what was alleged to be a HD6870 graphics card was posted at the website by a forum user who apparently got his paws on one.
The screenshot shows a 3DMark GPU score of 11,634. While it is possible to fake this sort of thing the supplied GPU-Z screenshot does add credibly to the leak.
It also tallies with some internal data that erroneously made its way into ATI's latest driver release, Catalyst 10.8. If the score is real then AMD's next family of GPUs is really going to knock some sense into the competition.
If you get a score above 11,600 in 3DMark would you would be doing better than the current ATI high end HD5870 and HD5970 graphics cards in raw performance.
It would also handily compete with Nvidia's GTX480, which is the Green Goblin's flagship GPU.
The Pcinlife website said that additional benchmarks performed on the card showed an average of 43.55FPS in Crysis at 1920x1200 resolution with 4xAA anti-aliasing and preset very high enabled.
It also said that an average of 36.6FPS was observed in the DX11-heavy Unigine stress test, with tessellation set to extreme.
We will find out whether this performance is real a bit later this Autumn when AMD gets around to releasing its 'Southern Isles' line of GPU chips that are expected to tip up in the Radeon HD6000 series of graphics cards. µ
Hmm, no memory at all, according to GPUZ, which then goes on to show the type of this non-existent memory and show its speed.
Website misidentified meaning of Cpu Z, Not Speed, on bottom of bios print there should be Cpu z software number, Eg Cpu z 1.45, part of displayed image.
apparently thats' missing & Apparently that means technical is created from outside, Not Inside of cpu. Well, I Never....
New -=7=- SP1 additional updates out today. Mary Jo got details, have to be member of tech testers at MicroSoft. Mainly Graphics Updates.
7Oct more XIV ibm stuff coming, for high TB 176+ crowd. For useage, already complaints Not Enough. well, whatdaya want for instant memory. So skip XIV as level of archetecture for Now & go Back to Reality, XI. btw XIV is DS8000, make ye hap pity? Hopeszo.
vondrashek Data Server 8K.
I hope ATI/AMD make some big steps ahead in OpenCL, nVidia are so much faster there today, but I hope they get some competition, and that they are using some kind of ECC so you can trust the results.
To the PCI-express comment, 2.1 has no real performance benefits and is not widely supported.
Chances are it will 2.1 will be mostly passed over in favor of future 3.0.
@spork:
This is a half-generation step for AMD, the next gen will come next year at the earliest. 6xxx will be 5xxx with optimizations and functional features from 7xxx. 66/67xx will probably have later releases (aside from any immediate releases) on 32nm 3-6 months before 7xxx hits the market to test the waters.
I won't venture to doubt the scores being too high, if anything they will be higher on release. AMD is probably building stock for a full range release before year's end.
Reason website States article is fake is due to GPU Z Score Blank. Also, those poor people are raving about P35 mainboard chipset, OMG.
Theres NO Picture of New series, 6870 Game Card, neither. So Poo. When Nvidia offers first lovely 5XX gamers card, if be, Nvidias' Fake scores might be higher yet.
When will insatible need sour, even $500, more than entire machine, isn't enough. Worse games cards, play mostly violent gobber. Each card only does narrrow range of games, sometimes made for just one specific game, others just coinkedink comalong, so for money Sandy Bridge with scores ABOVE ati5450 score is at least twice todays common integrated graphics 4250 integrated lifestyles.

Damn rebranding just like Nvidia, when will these companies learn.
If true, then this is a much bigger step up in performance than I expected. Early silicon and drivers that already outperforms the GTX480 by almost 20%, simply amazing. Nvidia is in for a long cold winter.
It's not a next gen ATI cards, it's only a refresh.
AMD Radeon.. Erm, that's just so wrong on so many levels.. Considering the success of ATi It should be ATi Phenom, ATi Fusion and ATi Radeon, but I honestly think it would be better to keep the separation with AMD for CPU's to avoid ATi Phen.., erm, AMD to spoil the picture of ATi' success with every fail vs. Intel.
Although the benchmark score's are impressive, they don't seem as high as I would expect if they only just top the GTX480. You would think the next gen ATI cards would just smoke everything else out at the time.
Are they reaching a plateau with their tech? We shall see. And maybe 5870/5850 cards will finally drop in price!
I find it hard to believe that HD6870 uses the old PCI Express 2.0 bus, it's gotta have the 2.1 version!
