INQUIRER readers expect the Google Verizon plot will end the Internet as we know it

Do no evil, our readers tell the corporations
Fri Aug 27 2010, 17:38

RESPONDENTS to The INQUIRER's poll about Google's and Verizon's scheme for net neutrality have come out overwhelmingly against those obviously self-serving corporations' proposal, with 80 per cent saying they have sold out and that the plan marks the beginning of the end for the Internet as we know it today.

Only six per cent of respondents to the survey thought the companies' plan was a realistic approach to network neutrality and network management. The Google Verizon plan blatantly seeks to differentiate between wireline and wireless broadband, with wireless being given far fewer protections for the consumer. Unsurprisingly only five per cent of The INQUIRER's survey respondents thought wireline was different from wireless in the context of net neutrality.

Given its dalliances with the authoritarian communist government in Beijing and now this plan, Google's famous philosophy statement that includes the statement, "You can make money without doing evil" has started sounding just as hollow as the word 'democratic' in the names of totalitarian governments past and present, such as the "Democratic People's Republic of Korea" and the "German Democratic Republic". µ

Mucho dinero sullies the soul

Something about A Camel, The Eye Of A Needle, A Rich Man and The Kingdom Of Heaven. Personally, I've never met a rich man I liked(or could trust).

You left out Democrat party in the US

The illegal alien in the White House loves Castro and Chavez. He also loves to bypass the legislative branch of government more than any president in US history. Who need separation of powers, Obama knows best.

"You can make money without doing evil"

But you can't *have* money without *being* evil; having it is the enabling condition and the urge to do as one wills without regard to the rights of others is irresistible. All human experience shows this.

Getting an income without laboring for it is as despicable for The Rich as it is for those getting only subsistence, except that the evil inherent in unearned income increases at a far greater than linear rate.

That's why I advocate steeply progressive income tax rates to prevent people from becoming filthy rich, and 100% inheritance taxes to prevent an unending series of parasites. It's the only preventative that's ever been shown effective.
