DISPLAY SCREEN MAKER Samsung has announced two new lines of multi-function monitors that can flip between different functions.
Ranging in size from 21.5 to 24 inches, the 30 and 90 model displays will allow viewers to switch easily from work to play with enhanced picture quality.
Samsung thinks that people don't have a lot of room to do things so it is better to have monitors doing lots of things rather than just computing.
Young Bae, director of display marketing at Samsung's enterprise business division said that the 30 and 90 series will provide users with a new range of options.
Both the 30 and 90 series monitors can be used as a small TV with full HD resolution and also feature picture-in-picture (PiP) so multi-tasking users can simultaneously use their computer and watch TV without the need for a second monitor or additional connections.
The monitors come equipped with two HDMI inputs and a Connectshare feature that enables even more multi-media capabilities, allowing users to instantly view and listen to music, movies and photos on the monitor from a memory stick, portable media player or digital camera through a plug-and-play USB connection.
The 30 and 90 series monitors use Samsung's Magicangle, which is supposed to allow full brightness and colour range from off centre viewing angles.
The 90 Series will be available in September starting at $419.99. The 30 Series will be available for between $269.99 and $329.99 depending on size. µ
I wonder how much extra power the multimedia features need... There's no such thing as a free lunch afterall ;)
Dell did this 6 years ago, of course minus the media crap part (totally irrelevant, why did you buy that x-fi card if you're going to use your monitor? Anyway GG Samsung for bringing back the dinosaur and giving it dual DVI!
