Pictures of Toshiba's Tegra tablet tip up

Looks like the Ipad but offers a lot more

IT SEEMS THAT Nvidia's Tegra is like London's buses, you wait ages for one then two turn up at the same time.

Toshiba's Smartpad is the firm's attempt at an Ipad-esque tablet that will use Nvidia's Tegra 2 chip. This is the second device that has been confirmed to ship with Nvidia's Tegra 2 chip. On Friday we reported LG's announcement that its Optimus series of smartphones will use the Tegra 2 chip. Now it seems that the Green Goblin is on a bit of a roll, with pictures of Toshiba's unit surfacing.

The tablet is likely to be shown off at the upcoming IFA show in Berlin next month, though it was pictured from afar at a Toshiba birthday bash celebrating 25 years since the firm released its first laptop. Judging by the pictures, it seems Toshiba has heavily mimicked Apple's Ipad, though it opted for four flush mounted buttons.

Unlike the Ipad, there's a built-in webcam and the possibility of a port replicator. Most will be excited by the fact that the pictures show two USB ports, one full size and the other 'mini', and HDMI output. Given that the device will ship with Google's Android operating system, it will have support for Adobe's Flash player, proper multitasking and not be restricted to Apple's App Store. All this is shaping up to make Toshiba's device looks like a useful bit of kit.

No pricing or availability details were revealed in the leaked documents, though we expect to see something around the first week of September at IFA. µ

Agreed

with the last two comments completely.

The ironic part is, there are not *less* pcs/pc-hardware etc events, its just that there is explosion in a near by universe, forming a parallel galaxy.
The radiation from that is pretty strong, masking everything else.

It's not just you

The last year or two have been terribly boring... remember the 3DFX vs nVidia fight? Athlon vs Pentium III? Those were the good days! Now it's just like, "oh, my cellphone is prettier than yours"
The thing is that now there's way much more people into electronics, and it seems to be taking the MTV road (remember when they were actually a MUSIC channel?) Now it's all about fashion, and that's why apple is doing so well.

Is it jusr me?

The last year or so in computing has just been plain boring. I am not into smart phones, tablets and other restricted computers ebook readers etc. I have no use for a quad cpu and think one of my favorite hobby's has become boring. Where's the cheap 5ghz cpu, nope didn't think so. If it weren't for Linux and Ubuntu and all the great free apps I would be totally bored.

Give it a Keyboard

A thin and nice looking tablet. Also a lot faster and more open than the padding. I suppose the battery is replaceable. If the price it right it'll rule. I want a keyboard with it though, smudging on a big screen can only go that far.

Not there yet

Unwillingly praising Apple, this Toshiba tablet looks bulk, much thickier and has a wider bezel around the screen. that's uncool!
There's no need for such amount of ports. One Mini-HDMI, one USB, a card reader and maybe an audio jack are more than enough, as power can be transfered through USB.
I don't see this tablet holding any water unless it's significantly cheaper than the iPad.

Authorities in several countries raided Megaupload recently, shut down all of its services, seized hundreds of servers and arrested several of its executives on criminal charges.

Do you think the move was justified?
