Stepford nation sees start of Wikileaks dirty tricks
THE MOST ORGANISED nation on earth saw the beginning of a dirty tricks campaign against Wikileaks at the weekend when Sweden's prosecution authority confirmed to a local newspaper that the website's founder Julian Assange was being investigated by police over allegations of rape and sexual molestation.
In a change from the normally cautious Swedish predisposition, rather than saying no comment to the media's enquiry on Friday, the authority confirmed that Assange was being investigated for sex crimes, breaking its own rules. Its website says, "Normally, the Swedish Prosecution Authority do not publish the names of persons suspected of crime."
On Wikileaks' Twitter page Assange wrote, "The charges are without basis and their issue at this moment is deeply disturbing."
The allegations against Assange were published first by the Swedish right-wing tabloid Expressen after the investigation was leaked to it. An arrest warrant was issued for Assange on Friday and then withdrawn on Saturday. One wonders what the internationally popular Swedish TV detective Wallander would think of all this, and will the writers use the Assange mystery for story inspiration?
Assange was in Sweden to talk to the Association of Christian Social Democrats, and the Swedish Pirate Party, which is also an ISP, announced that it will host Wikileaks. Perhaps the leak was politically motivated as Sweden's centre right coalition faces an election against the left leaning Christian Social Democratic party in September.
Then again Sweden has over 500 troops in Afghanistan and its government might be worried that it will be implicated in any alleged war crimes that emerge from the remaining Pentagon documents Wikileaks has yet to publish. The Pentagon has been blamed as the source of the sex crime claims but the US Department of Defence has denied that.
Sweden has a history of political assassinations, quite literally. Its prime minister Olof Palme was assasinated in 1986, an act of violence that the locals thought was an inside job. It is the nation that officials from the United Nations like to hold up as an example of perfection for developing countries, and the ruling elite aren't keen on those that upset the apple cart.
The BBC reports that Palme once said, "I know that the Thatchers and the Reagans will be out in a few years. We have to survive till then." Palme didn't, and if the neo-conservative disciples of Thatcher and Reagan have their way, neither will Assange. µ

Palme assasination was never really solved, work of a random madman (like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anna_Lindh) or other? The prosecutor in the Assange case made a serious error in her judgement, and it's probably the laws, moral panic and governmental extreme feminists fault. Pirate and other liberal bloggers now seem to have given up on conspiracy theories...
Which could be either a long-planned attempt to enhance Wikileaks credibility by showing it as under attack from Them, or, much less likely, it's a personal warning to Assange from Them at headquarters to get *back* into line if straying. Either way, keeps looking like Wikileaks is an intelligence front; may put out some useful info, but the revelations may be only to drive an even worse policy of US invading Pakistan and Iran to commit more war crimes there.

heres problem with tax. say economy of $1. built item X for dollar. than builder payed 10% to build, so build x thats90% size, again next builder builds < for x. by know 3 people have what hoped is dollar X & only .81 cents in circulation, so every X is actually worth 30 cents, although owner hopes for dollar back.
then tax steps in & wants 1/3 of each transaction plus value tax. midway thru second x, money simply has been taken by forgein taxing authority, UBS. Or Berlin or whomever. NO Money, sell X for 9 cents, less than cost of mfg, if lucky attrack forgein bankers back,yet FREE is about only known word to banker.
