Yahoo pays for Barclays Premier League football highlights

Five minutes of every game online
Mon Aug 16 2010, 10:44

WEB PORTAL Yahoo will broadcast five minutes of highlights from every Barclays Premier League footbal match in the 2010/11 season and put them on the world wide web.

The deal is partly thanks to advertising from Adidas, Heineken, BT and Sony Pictures. Mark Rabe, managing director of Yahoo! UK thinks that highlights of the weekend's action will be a must-see for the casual or serious football fan.

He said, "It is perfect to catch up on games you may have missed, for sharing with friends and for being part of the conversation at work on Monday." After all that is all anyone talks about on Monday morning.

Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore said in a press release that the ways fans access Barclays Premier League action are growing ever more diverse and sophisticated. He said the online highlights package is an important medium for supporters of all its clubs to be able to follow match action.

Of course the deal only applies to those who want to talk about football in UK offices on Monday morning. Yahoo's servers will only give you the service if they think you are in the UK.

Here in Rome the Barclay's league and all that stuff is mercifully far away, along with the people who think it is great to talk about first thing on a Monday. µ
