WEB BROWSER Chrome has been updated for security and Flash support in its current version 5, while its beta for version 6 has been given better data protection.
Google has said that the Chrome 5 update for Windows, Linux and MacOS X adds new components for Flash. The US Computer Emergency Response Team reports that the update also includes fixes for remote code execution vulnerabilities.
The Chrome version 6 beta update adds an autofill feature while protecting data from possible attack at the hands of malicious web sites. "For your security, any personal information stored in Chrome is safely stored and kept private until a user chooses to share the information with a website," wrote Google software engineer James Hawkins in the company blog post about the beta update.
"Additionally, your credit card information is never saved without first asking you explicitly," he added.
The beta has also seen changes to the web browser's user interface with the upper toolbar streamlined, the Omnibox made more approachable and options condensed into a single menu. µ
