I was also at Covent Garden this week and thought it was all kind of pathetic (and scary, at first I thought it was the scientologists)

Everyone in the queue could have fit inside the store easily, but were being dribbled in one at a time (presumably to make it look more crowded and popular)

On the way out each punter was "wooh"'ed and clapped by members of staff in blue tops in a not-fully-ethusiastic slightly embarrassed English kind of way. The staff who were badly attempting to emulate Amercian braindead enthusiasm vastly outnumbered the punters.

Basically I came away with the opinion that it looked like a cult, sounded like a cult and therefore probably was a cult.

An excuse for a tosser who might have an opinion, but really thinks that to be a blogger is to reveal to the world how pathetic they are...

Saw a statue guy this week at Covent Gardens with an ipod. I took a picture with him and gave him lots of change in solidarity. Not because I like his work (which I do find hilarious), but to thumb at INQ and their terribly biased news reporting.

OK, my apologies. I didn't realise that this is mean to be a parodying/entertaining news website, if that's really the case. It regularly comes up in my recommended section of Google News and I expect stuff that's linked on there to be serious news stuff. I suppose looking at this in a more light-hearted manner makes it not so bad.

Maybe if it were more obvious, people wouldn't come to these articles and take them to be an attempt at serious journalism. I'm not the only one who gets linked to these and thinks they're supposed to be reading normal news reports, as is clear from some of the comments this guy's articles have received.

Foxconn is Apple's toy manufacturer.

Another Foxconn worker has died in what is believed to be the fourteenth suicide at the factory.

Foxconn has faced a lot of criticism this year as a result of a cluster of suicides at one of its factories. The manufacturing company is said to have installed safety nets to catch jumpers attempting to end their lives. However, it seems even the safety nets are not enough, as Foxconn yesterday confirmed another death at the factory.

The BBC reports that Foxconn Thursday confirmed that a 22-year-old employee had died after falling from a dormitory on Wednesday. The woman is said to have worked in the packaging department. Foxconn did not clarify if the death was the result of a suicide attempt, but said it is investigating.

Foxconn has taken several steps to try and put an end to the suicides. The company raised employee wages twice, brought in councilors, hired monks and exorcists, requested that staff sign no-suicide contracts and installed safety nets. According to the Telegraph, the latest pay raise will bring the basic salary for production-line workers from 900 renminbi ($132.98) per month to 2,000 renminbi ($295.5). Its move to hire councilors was criticized because of the councilor to employee ratio. The Foxconn plant in question employees roughly 800,000 people, and a total of 100 councilors.

This is whats missing in most tech review websites now a days. Good comical satire. Something like Top Gear but for technology.

I enjoyed reading this article so much that I have subscribed to The Enquirer. Yes, it is a rant, yes it is 'bad journalism' but, as a mac user, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Bravo.
