Siggraph will feature 3D realism from the cloud

Racks of Nvidia Tesla GPUs on tap

ATTENDEES AT THE Siggraph International Conference will be able to visualize 3D scenes with remarkable realism and maybe even scenes of them not looking quite so nerdy with a graphics processing cloud that will be on offer.

Using Nvidia Tesla GPUs, Peer 1 Hosting is hosting Nvidia subsidiary Mental Images' Realityserver 3D web application service platform, which will be 'available' at the conference, by which it is meant that prospective customers can get free trials.

The Realityserver apparently delivers interactive and photorealistic applications over the web using the Iray renderer, which enables users to easily visualize 3D scenes with "remarkable realism". Running on PEER 1 Hosting's GPU cloud, Realityserver enables Web 2.0 developers to offer 3D applications.

"We're excited to support and deliver high performance hosted GPUs from Nvidia to our customers," says wacky Peer1 managing director Dominic Monkhouse, who likes to have prospective employees practice golf putting in his office as part of the selection process.

Nvidia's Tesla S1070 and Tesla M2050 hosted GPUs as well as Realityserver are now available for purchase worldwide and will be available as a managed hosting offering at Peer 1 Hosting data centres in Toronto, Canada and London in the UK. µ
