Iphone advert software gets blocked

Another fault remedied
Wed Jul 21 2010, 13:20

FLOGGER OF ITHINGS Apple will see its latest money making scheme go down the loo thanks to an application that disables Iad.

Religious leader Steve Jobs had hoped to rake in the cash by having his followers interact with advertisers through his Iad software. However, thanks to a talented coder, Iadkiller removes all remnants of Iad from jailbroken Iphones.

This is great news for fanbois who are already burdened with the cost of purchasing an Iphone Flaw. Iadkiller should mean that they can avoid being hit by a massive phone bill after being forced to endure adverts that take over their rubber band wrapped gadget. Not surprisingly, this innovative bit of software didn't make it past the App Store censors. However it is available through Cydia, the alternative 'app store' for jailbroken Iphones.

Jobs had touted Iad as a replacement for current advertising software that, according to him, displayed ads that "sucked". In effect Iad represents little more than a stealth tax, where Jobs' Mob takes a cut on both ends of the deal. Users are forced to use up their already limited mobile data quota on adverts for which Jobs has already charged advertisers handsomely.

Iphone OS 4 has already been jailbroken on the Iphone 3GS and has, along with carrier unlocking, been demonstrated on the Iphone 4. The Iphone Dev team has said that they are evaluating the best unlock method to package up and make available to Iphone 4 users. It is expected that one of its hack and crack software packages will be updated in the coming days.

Once that's done, those fanbois who want to stray from Steve Jobs' flock can do so and avoid having their shiny toys become interactive billboards spamming them with adverts at their own expense. µ

You Can't Truly Opt Out

Here is what the website says for those who try the opt out feature:

* You may still see the same number of ads as before, but they may be less relevant because they will not be based on your interests.

* You may still see ads related to the content in an application or based on other non-personal information.

* If you use more than one Apple mobile device running iOS 4, you will have to opt out from each device individually.

* Opting out applies only to Apple advertising services and does not affect interest-based advertising from other advertising networks.

iAd

Hey man, why do you want to disable a moneymaking scheme a la Job. It's a "feature" to enhance your spam.
