HARD DRIVE MAKER Seagate has released a Goflex home network storage product.

The kit can be connected to a wireless router and used to backup and stream content to Digital Living Network Alliance (DNLA) devices.

Goflex comes with 1TB or 2TB of storage space and Seagate reduced the number of cables involved with just two connections required. The company also bult Goflex with a modular design so it can be upgraded easily and other USB storage drives can be added.

Punters can upgrade to a Seagate Share Pro remote access servie, which connects to mobile connected devices like Blackberrys and Iphones. Users can access content on the networked drive from anywhere, including of course social notworking websites.

Seagate has also staked its claim on eco-friendly hardware. The Goflex has a power saving mode that kicks it into idle mode after 30 minutes and a power switch that shuts down while punters are out.

"With broadband and home networks reaching higher levels of penetration and operating at higher speeds, consumers are increasingly downloading and streaming content into their home and wanting to access that content from anywhere," said Seagate VP of retail sales and marketing Darcy Clarkson.

"We spent a lot of time focusing on simplicity with this product and believe people will find it very intuitive to set-up and get started. With the Goflex Home system, now home networking is within reach for today's digital households."

Goflex is for sale now at £104 and £150 for the 1TB and 2TB flavours, respectively and support Windows and Mac. µ
