GEOLOCATION IS the big thing for Opera's Mobile 10.1 beta that has been released for Nokia Symbian Series 60 phones.
Opera Mobile 10.1's other features include speed dial, Opera link, password manager, tabbed browsing, a virtual keyboard, kinetic scrolling and auto-rotation to landscape. It also has a feature called Opera Turbo. This apparently uses Opera's own servers to compress webpages and "more than double your browsing speed" so the company says, when the network speed slows to a crawl.
Regarding geolocation Opera said, "Support for geolocation puts you and your mobile on the map, so that web services such as maps and travel applications can offer you tailored, relevant content," by which it means adverts, we think. And Opera quickly adds, "your privacy is important, and you decide if and when Opera Mobile will share your location."
This is all possible the company explains because of its "powerful" Presto rendering engine, Vega graphics library and Carakan Javascript engine. We're so glad it gave those things their own special names. µ

Just like Mozilla's "ScaldedMonkey" and MSIE's "Executor" technologies. It makes it easier to discuss and compare them.
