TWO ANDROID phones are now available on the 3 network, the HTC Wildfire and Sony Ericsson X10 Mini Pro with Android 2.1 and 1.6 respectively.
The X10 Mini Pro will be available in black or white from 9 July, while the HTC Wildfire could be bought in Metal Mocha from 2 July. Both phones are available for £30 a month on 3's One plan with 2,000 any network minutes, 5,000 3 network minutes, 5,000 texts, 1GB of data and a six month free subscription to Spotify Premium.
The X10 Mini Pro has a 2.6-inch touchscreen, a slide out QWERTY keypad, a micro SD card slot and comes with a 2GB memory card and has a 5-megapixel camera with auto focus and LED flash. The HTC Wildfire has a 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen, a 5-megapixel camera with auto focus and LED flash, a 3.5mm audio jack and a micro SD card slot.
On pay as you go the HTC Wildfire goes for £199 and the Sony Ericsson X10 Mini Pro costs £249. µ
The article doesn't say the most important thing, which of the two gets 2.2
1.6 is barebones, 2.1 is "slightly sluggish" even on a 1ghz snapdragon with 512meg of ram. In other words, Android was a harsh place before the arrival of 2.2
So, any phone not getting the 2.2 is not worth the money.
