Lenovo chief hails Jobs' temper

Troubled genius
Mon Jul 05 2010, 16:01

CULT OF APPLE LEADER Steve Jobs isn't bestowing enough attention to his Chinese followers, according to Lenovo's head honcho, Liu Chuanzhi.

The Chinese system builder who bought IBM's PC business in 2005 is currently top dog in China, however Chuanzhi believes that if Jobs had paid more attention to the market, Lenovo wouldn't be doing so well.

In a stunning admission to the Financial Times, Chuanzhi claimed, "We [Lenovo] are lucky that Steve Jobs has such a bad temper and doesn't care about China. If Apple were to spend the same effort on the Chinese consumer as we do, we would be in trouble."

We think, Chuanzhi, that you will find that Jobs isn't so discriminatory when it comes to not caring about his customers, judging from the Iphone 4 saga.

Lenovo is enjoying success in its home market with around 30 per cent of the domestic sales pie. It is surprising that Jobs doesn't seem to bother too much about the Chinese, as Dell, HP and Acer are all piling in to cash in on the growing disposable wealth of Chinese consumers who have struck it rich.

While Chuanzhi's observation of Jobs' temper was a surprising comment, he clearly has respect for Jobs, saying that Apple's Dear Leader is a "genius". Indeed how else could someone flog a chic smartphone for an inordinate amount of cash that cannot even be held during operation.

While Jobs' Mob may enjoy cult-like status in the West, given that China is still ruled by a communist party, it is unlikely that Apple's cult leader will garner a similar fanatic following there.

And it seems that for that reason, Jobs can't be bothered. To him, apparently, China is still just a source of cheap contract labour. µ

@IPhone fAnboi

"I was on the phone in a wood the other day."

Translation: I was with wood while fondling my new Iphone (iPhlaw 4).

There's a reason "Dear Leader" doesn't have an easily accessable battery compartment. His uNholiness realizes that if his iFanbois could easily get inside they would quickly gum up the works with their...how can I say this delicately?...enthusiasm. Be sure to wipe up afterwords iKiddies and don't forget to drink your Kool-Aid !

iPhone 4 awesome

I got an iPhone 4 on launch day. It is awesome. It upgrades by much loved 2G. Reception better than the 2G. I was on the phone in a wood the other day. If you have the means buy buy buy. Reception massively over reported by numpties.

You would be doing better in other countries if...

... you chose to sell Lenevo T series laptops at rational prices (read prices they are sold at in the US) instead of at twice the price of comparable laptops. India is not richer than the US. k thnx.

Well they're more cult-like than Falun Gong

Their reps probably get lined up against the wall within five minutes of entering the country.
