Iphone 4 handsets are still elusive in the UK

Can't make enough of them
Fri Jul 02 2010, 13:56

ONE WEEK after Apple's London Regent Street store sold out of Iphone 4s the shiny gadgets are still nowhere to be seen with no online sales from 3, T-Mobile and O2.

Of the three UK networks offering the much in demand handset, 3 and T-Mobile have told The INQUIRER that they are unable to sell the phone through their websites and O2 also states on its website that it can't sell online. However O2's website does say that it has the elusive phone at some of its brick and mortar retail outlets.

"We'll have an announcement this month, it will be soon, I can't say more than that," T-Mobile said of the Iphone 4's expected availability online, while 3 also only has July listed as its official date for online sales.

The UK Apple online store still has a shipment date of three weeks on its website after abandoning several dates previously posted online. Apple was not available for comment as to whether that three weeks is from the date of any order. The website also has a maximum online order of two handsets.

Apple's London Regent Street store has none in stock and staff tell The INQUIRER that if it has none then the company's other UK retail outlets will not have any either. µ

Just wait 30 days

Things should get better when the first batch is returned under the 30 day money back deal.

They are around

I went to get one on Monday at Car Phone Warehouse they said they could get me one by Thursday, turned out they had no 16GB ones but then found a 32GB but said I couldn't have that as it was only available for the £60 a month O2 contract.

So it looks like there is a bit of preferential treatment for people willing to go for the higher monthly contracts.

Can you hear me NOW

R2D2 here,

Apple Inc. said Friday that it was "stunned" to find that its iPhones have for years been using a "totally wrong" formula to determine how many bars of signal strength they are getting. Since Job’s first fix “you’re holding it wrong” did not sell well he now has the solution: Use software to pretend that the hardware is working. Yeah, that’s the ticket. Oh, and that new software will also make you weigh ten pounds less and will add 10K to your bank account. Ahhhhhhahahahaha! Oops, help me Obi-Wan! I laughed so hard I fell over and can’t get up.

It’s July and hot on Earth. Better drink up that Kool-Aid.

No such problems with my Droids. The hardware is the best in the galaxy. You earthlings can expect another delivery very soon. The Millennium Falcon has just jumped to hyperspace to get my Droids there without delay.

The Force is with us! R2D2
