Yahoo gets links with Android

Mail and chat at last

INTERNET PORTAL OUTFIT Yahoo has finally sorted out its problems with Android.

For a while now connecting your Yahoo account to the Android OS has been a pain. It was a doddle with Gmail and Hotmail, you could just type in your email address and password, and the Android client would set it up for you.

Now Yahoo has made it a whole lot easier to check Yahoo user email with the release of a standalone app for Android.

This means that users can receive push notification of new emails, send emails to Yahoo contacts, use rich text formatting in messages, search, view and download attachments and upload photos. Basically anything you can do on your PC at Yahoo.

Yahoo Messenger is also there and this can be launched directly from the Mail app.

We can't help but wonder if this sudden interest in Android is anything to do with the deal that Yahoo has signed with Nokia. µ

Images?

I have them switched off for Yahoo mail - less bandwidth wasted and it does'nt inform the sender that this mail has been opened.

As far as I can tell the Android client will not allow me to turn off images - including monstrous Aldi flyers which eat up my bandwidth and are far too big to display correctly.

Well done Yahoo...another winner <sigh
