US investigation might impact Iphone 4

Apple comes under patent scrutiny
Mon Jun 28 2010, 08:58

APPLE IS UNDER INVESTIGATION by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) regarding alleged patent infringements of image processing hardware and related software for its phones, which could include the Iphone 4.

If the ITC finds in favour of the plaintiff, California based S3 Graphics, on its request for preliminary injunction, Apple will be unable to import its phones because hardware and software in them would be deemed to be patent infringements.

In a complaint that was filed last week, S3 Graphics alleged violations of the 1930 Tariff Act because, the ITC says, "The products at issue in this investigation are electronic devices such as smart phones...with image processing systems, components thereof, and associated software that infringe patents asserted by S3 Graphics."

The ITC will assign the case to one of its six administrative law judges and under its rules it will announce within 45 days when its investigation will be concluded. µ

Patent War

Someone should really try and summarise the current patent war, as I think Apple is now on the receiving end of more attacks than they initially put out.

After all, they started it, as far as I'm aware with their convoluted attack on Google via HTC.

I'm not sure Microsoft are involved in any current legal battles, so it stands to reason that they might be the winners.

HTC v Apple
Google v Apple x2
S3 vs Apple
FTC vs Apple
ITC vs Apple

Lolol, good luck guys, I think you might need it.

Ahem...what to say about this?

MWWWWAHHAAAHAAAA - SUCK IT UP JOBS! The patent-boomerang came back to get ya!

The Law of Karma is alive and well in the USA.

Moral: people in glass houses -- namely anyone doing business and depending upon patents to do so -- should not throw stones.
