SOME PROPORTION OF Iphone 4 users who unbox their shiny expensive toys are finding that Apple shipped them with dodgy screens.
We know that touchscreen parts are in short supply in Asia at the moment so it appears that Apple could not be too choosy about the ones that ended up in the final product. However it appears that the quality level has slipped a bit.
According to Apple's Iphone support forum, some users are finding that there are colour flaws on their displays.
"On the bottom 10 per cent of the screen there were three blotches about the size of shirt buttons that discolour the screen a brown/yellow colour," one user complained. Another user spotted the problem in the upper left hand corner of the display. Yet others say that they are seeing lines across the screen.
One Iphone 4 bloke who asked others if they had problems had his post pulled, probably because of rules against polling users. Others insist that the problem may not be permanent, apparently hoping that Iphones are magical self-healing devices.
Others say that calls to their Apple Genius bar are backed up and no one is answering.
While there is no doubt that Apple will fix the dodgy displays, it might be tricky for it to do so with the displays in such short supply. It is also not clear what the extent of the problem will be at this point, as boxes are just starting to arrive on people's doorsteps.
No doubt Apple will tell us that the problem is only affecting a small number of users and there will be shedloads of comments below telling us that they had their Iphone 4 delivered and it works perfectly.
This will be cold comfort for those users who pre-ordered them and their screens are broken. The whole point about an Apple product is that you are supposed to spend a fortune on it so it "just works". µ
They're looking at them wrong - you're not supposed to use both rods and cones when looking at an iPhone screen. Either or, that's the ticket.
Look at YouTube there is a funny repair for the iPhone 4 it's called 'iPhone 4 repair' but put tape at the end.
Early adopters? How long has the iphone been out?
I think these fanbois are getting pictures from their mommys of a picture of how they wet the bed the night before they got their Itartphone Four
*sniff sniff* Smells an awful lot of a BS excuse, I guess RROD on Xbox 360 was also just an early adoption thing? and that we shouldn't have talked about that.. Or is it that your glorious leader Steve Jobs is in the line of fire so you feel the need to make excuses?
Not really that surprising, the screen was the only "cool" thing about this damn phone.
I seemed to remember this never happened on 27" macs and that people never got paid £300 for there screens to be replaced for the yellow stain they never got.
So regardless if Nick has had bad stories in past this one actually is coming across as a few cases.
The other concern is the left handed people who have to have a case if want to hold in hand and make a call as shorting of 2 antennas will cause this fault so that could be a slight design flaw that will be updated in v2, until then maybe time for a free bump case to all lefty buyers.
Of course Apple will call this a feature and new would happen all along hence there bump cases :-)
First, he's not (in this case). Second, if you take a look at any Pro-Mac site you'll see plenty of photos substantiating these claims.

Even 1 is 'some proportion'. Lies, damn lies, statistics and Nick Farrell.
Get verizon! Buy a droid!!!!!
Judging by the c+%p Nick has been putting out on this site I would take this article with a very large pinch of salt!
Got my iPhone 4 today from local Tesco and it is AWESOME!
Nick your articles really do suck.
Early adopters have to accept the fact that they will receive units that have problems.
