Apple store confirms Iphone 4 delays

Camp out a bit longer
Tue Jun 22 2010, 11:53

CHINESE MADE GADGET FLOGGER Apple has confirmed that there will be a delay in shipping its latest shiny toy, the Iphone 4, into Blighty.

Initially we were told we were going to see embarrassing displays of people with no sense of perspective queuing in the middle of the night on 22 June.

Then the date was pushed back by Apple until 3 July. O2 then started talking about rationing the Iphone to its existing customers at least until the end of July.

Now Apple itself has not announced a new release date of 14 July. We say it has not announced this because all it has done is changed the date on its online store and not told anyone.

Of course if you have already started queuing for your new Iphone you will be out for an extra two weeks, but at least it is summer and you will not get snowed on.

However, even once Iphone 4 sales start, it is not clear if there will be enough of the things to go around. It appears that there are shortages of touchscreens in the Far East so there simply are not enough shiny bits.

Of course the Apple fanbois in the US have taken priority. µ

Total Rubbish

This is Nick's worst yet. No facts at all.

The initial iPhone orders for 24th July all sold out and as such the dates were moved back as per the other comments here.

There are NO delays with existing orders!!!!!!

I have been threatening to stop reading this c*$p for a while. I really feel I need to now..............

Shipping email

I got my shipping email this morning confirming delivery tomorrow - on the date shown on the website when I ordered and in the confirmation email. I'm not sure apple really have to inform anyone that they've sold out and the date for new orders is being pushed back due to short supply.

I'm sorry I gave you a hit

Dear Nick,

I'm pretty sure a 14 year old school kid could report better than you. The reasons are outlined above by the previous comments.

I am unsure how you have any job, especially one that involves writing 'articles' as you are completely incompetent. Are journalists not meant to be impartial when reporting supposed facts? Instead you focus on reporting anything you can twist against apple. It's not just this article, it's everything you have ever written about apple.

The worst thing is I have given you a hit by clicking on this article. What a mistake. I won't be visiting theINQ again, just because of you.

Bye

Tooting My Own Horn, Jumping On the Bandwagon

I see there are more comments where people have said their piece already, but I'm jumping in anyway, even if I say the same thing.

Apple website has a July 14th date for orders online. However, the inital batch of pre-orders made last week will ship to customers on the specified date, June 24th. A second date, July 2nd, was given to subsequent orders until that order quota was filled, and finally we have the July 14th date for all other orders made online.

I think you've missed some of the finer details here. These dates are all about online orders made for the iPhone 4. What you're leaving out is that Apple is definitely keeping to it's original promise and not pushing anyone's order back, and there are units that will be sold in stores, starting on June 24th.

There's really no "delay" here, but rather just an overwhelming demand that's sucking up supplies of these phones and making people who ordered late have to wait until more units can be produced and shipped.

As my 5th grade teacher once told me "You need to get your facts straight!", Amen.

Please Nick get your facts straight

Nick, would you please check your facts before putting your foot in it, again!

The launch of iphone4 will go ahead as planned except for a few lucky customers who will get theirs a day EARLY. There will be a shortage before the end of day 1 especially for the 32G version but the release has NOT been delayed.

I for one am a fan of all things Apple, they always do what the say on the label and I have never been disappointed in a single Apple product and I'm sure I am not alone.

Getting a bit fed up with you Nick

Nick,

Firstly let me clarify who useless a journalist Nick Farrell must be.

There has been no announcement by Apple that the launch date of the iPhone 4 is to be postponed.

Stock is limited and I would expect both Apple Stores & Network providers will sell out on Day 1.

Personally I have an iPhone 4 pre-ordered to collect from an Apple store on the 24th June. When I first read your headline through my iGoogle news article I was concerned.

Then I read what you were basing your article on. All apple have done is change the date that any new pre-orders will ship by. This has no impact on when Apple or any network provider will 'start' selling the new iPhone.

I've read a few articles by you over the last few days in relation to the iPhone 4. I am somewhat irritated by your constant slandering of Apple and anybody who is a fan of their products.

Funnily enough wanting to purchase an iPhone on the day it is released doesn't give grounds for someone to be locked up in a mental institution. I'm not a 'fanboi' despite this being my 3rd iPhone purchase. I've never owned a Mac and have barely ever used one as I've always grown up with PC's.

I do however have a love of gadgets and consumer electronics. I love my music & love being able to have an easy to use device that has a multitude of functions that keep me informed, entertained & in touch with my friends & family.

I really don't understand why this is such a crime. If you want one at launch, as a lot of people who enjoy having the next best thing do, then potentially you might need to be willing to camp outside a shop to get one. That's their decision and you slating people for it says more about you than it does them.

I very rarely post comments on websites about anything but that's twice in as many days that you've managed to personally offend me both in your opinions and inability to report factual information. I do hope nobody is paying you for your attempt at Journalism. If you were a kid on work experience I'd be disappointed.
