More Androids in the mix

TAIWANESE MANUFACTURER Acer will soon be launching its Betouch E120 and Betouch E130 smartphones.

Both models will run the Android OS and come out over the summer.

The black or white Acer Betouch E120 will have a 2.8-inch touchscreen and a 5-way navi-pad. It is designed to be compact at 104.5 x 54 x 13.2mm and will weigh 105g. The processor is an ST Ericsson PNX6715 running at 416MHz and it'll come with 256MB of RAM and a 3.2MP camera.

Acer will be peddling the Acer Betouch E130 as a more sophisticated affair that's thin, compact, linear and will weigh 109g. It certainly looks like it'll be a more interesting proposition with a 2.6-inch touchscreen and a full qwerty keyboard.

The Acer Betouch E130 sports most of the same specification and features as the E120 but adds Edge functionality. Both models will have 3G+ and a host of other connectivity, including HSDPA, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS pre-installed. Both will also have integrated Facebook and Twitter applications and have a slot for a MicroSD card.

Acer has tagged both smartphones as "trendy, youthful, and attractive".

There's no price on either yet but the Acer Betouch E120 will be out in mid-July while the Betouch E130 will follow up in August. µ

@Kin-Loe

A co-worker of mine just bought an original 'droid' because she wanted some smartphone capability with a slider qwerty and she didn't want to pay a bunch of money. She is an engineer and makes a good living, she's just frugal.

So, yes, price means something.

Acer, Who cares?

Is anyone really considering Acer when it comes to cell phones? I saw the video Theinq had of one of their newer phones and it looked like most Acer products, low quality, plastic gadget. Even their laptops I wouldn't touch. The phone in this news have low specs and I doubt the price will mean anything.
