WEB AND GRAPHICS SOFTWARE HOUSE Adobe has taken another step in the journey to stamp its Flash ads on the already annoying Apple Ipad.
In a fresh twist to the Adobe hates Apple and vice versa soap opera, the former is apparently partnering with an ad firm to sneak Flash onto the latter's mobile gadgets, right under its nose.
We learn that Adobe has signed some sort of deal with the mobile ad firm Greystripe that will see them create Flash-based interactive adverts that output in HTML5. And as anyone who cares already knows, while Apple prefers to pick Flash out of the soles of its shoes with a stick, it is quite the fan of HTML5.
Flash already pops up in Greystripe's Iphone and Ipad software for display in the Safari web browser. The firm calls this Iflash, but you'll have to switch the capitals round yourself to see the full impact of that glorious title. So quite how actually working with Adobe will change this is unclear. Iflash launched in March of this year, but the relationship is bound to tick off Steve Jobs no end.
"We're committed to making it easy for advertisers to achieve results in mobile by removing barriers to execution and offering the engaging power of Flash-authored creatives on the iPhone and iPad," said Michael Chang, CEO at (or Tarzan of) Greystripe.
Ssshh Mr Chang, have you not heard of the ban hounds?
Adobe has not yet reponded to our call for confirmation of the deal. µ
So now we know for sure adobe want to kill flash, and coincidentally so does steve, but adobe want to go out playing the fiddle while the world burns and steve wants it to quietly slip away.
