FROM JUNE the Dell Streak 5-inch touchscreen tablet will be available in the high street but until then watch this video of a unit that has already reached Blighty.

First shown at CES in January running Google's open source Android operating system, it will be available from O2 and Carphone Warehouse come June.

Using a 1GHz Snapdragon processor Streak has WiFi, 3G and Bluetooth and a 5 megapixel autofocus camera and expandable MicroSD card storage to supplement the 2GB. Streak's five-inch screen actually has a lower pixel per inch count than some Android smartphone. µ

Whats the point?

Dell have well and truly missed the opportunity with this, its far to big to be a smart phone, way to small to be a tablet, so that leaves it as either a portable video player or a sat nav.

By pricing it at £429, its way to expensive to be either, Archos make pvp's far far cheaper and a 7" satnav can be picked up on fleabay for well under half the amount.

I provide remote IT supports, so iPad it still is then...

Could be better

And why doesn't it have a non-glare screen?

Scientists in the UK developed a new type of non-glare coating and I've yet to see it on any smart phones for some reason.
