Android mobile phones get streaming TV

Yamgo releases beta software
Thu May 20 2010, 09:52

MOBILE TV OUTFIT Yamgo has released beta software for Android users so that they can see live streaming of high-quality mobile TV and video on demand.

The outfit claims that this is the first software to do so on the Android operating system. It means that Android can do the same things with video as Jobs' Mobs' Iphone.

Yamgo founder and CEO Ian Mullins said the Iphone has been regarded as the leading smartphone, providing great graphics, colours, sound and media streaming, while Android users have moaned about poor sound, stuttering pictures and squashed screens whenever they attempt to watch mobile TV, but that should become a thing of the past.

He said that now Android smartphone users in the UK can enjoy high quality live mobile TV channels from some of the UK's leading broadcasters, including the BBC, ITV and Channel 4, using a 3G or WiFi connection.

Mullins claims that the free live TV service provides Android users and almost all other mobile consumers with the highest possible picture quality using the existing video player in the user's mobile phone and does not require any additional software or application download.

Yamgo operates optimised streaming that adapts the picture quality to the available network connectivity, minimising any buffering and providing a viewing experience even whilst on the move.

Of course you have to register with the outfit to get all this. µ

Yamgo dead & buried

Looks like tvcatchup is about to release mass mobile access to their service good job too.
I have tried yamgo and it is abysmal with a terrible stream and you would have thought that this outfit would have at least tried to make it at least up to some acceptable standard.

Shame about Dave Johnston and the beebplayer as he was the pioneer as regards android and should be respected as such

What about beebplayer then?

Strange, thought that was what beebplayer did (and has done for many months) considering when you click live, it keeps yabbering at you to make sure you own a TV license. *shrug* very strange. Guess it's new for having support for ITV (does anyone watch that channel anyhow?) and Channel4.

INQ Poll

Authorities in several countries raided Megaupload recently, shut down all of its services, seized hundreds of servers and arrested several of its executives on criminal charges.

Do you think the move was justified?
