PHONE MANUFACTURER Motorola is getting a good kicking on the global markets, according to the industry analysis firm Isuppli.
It noted previously that Motorola's US mobile phone market share had slipped a bit. However according to Isuppli things are even worse for Motorola globally.
While worldwide mobile phone shipments rose a healthy 13.8 per cent in the first quarter of 2010, Motorola slipped from sixth to eighth place in the global rankings.
The company sold only 8.5 million phones compared to 14.7 million during the same period a year earlier.
Meanwhile market leaders Nokia and Samsung made huge gains while LG, RIM and Apple also saw some smaller progress.
Motorola is now in a neck and neck race with ZTE, which is a bit of an embarrassment. µ
..and I hope it'll get even worse.
Motorola's customer support outside the US is less than poor. I am an owner of the Motorola Milestone (similar to the Droid in the US, just with GSM instead of CDMA). And after what James King, Moto's marketing director for Europe stated on facebook they should - imho - never sell a single phone again.

I've had numerous phones during my life and I've only had problems with the ones made by Motorola. My Razr had a very bright bluetooth light that wouldn't go out and I'm on my second Droid that has the issue of draining the battery while turned OFF. Apparently it's a common problem that Motorola hasn't done anything about. If everyone else is having the same luck with their Motorola phones I can see why they aren't selling.
hummm....not exactly... Volume means market share but not proftability. Apple market share is very low compared with Nokia, but still doing more money than the ice phone company... What are the financial results from Motorola? Maybe the way out that the company is fighting for is not for share. LG and Sansung can use the fantastic product portfolio to still doing money. Is it really important still selling a lot of low price phones to keep the share?
Good.
They mullered Psion and messed Symbian around. There's nothing they don't deserve
