CANADIAN SMARTPHONE MAKER Research in Motion (RIM) has recruited a gyrating popsy filmed from the breasts down dancing to the Black Eyed Peas to hawk its Blackberry 6 OS.
The video clip is supposed to suggest that the RIM mobile operating system will be all touchy-feely on a Blackberry touchscreen with a new home screen and Internet browser complete with multiple sessions.
The Blackberry 6 OS has user interface apps such as favourites and media, plus a multi-touch browser interface, and also comes with a brand spanking new media player.
RIM president Mike Laziridis kept banging on about something he called a user experience, which appears to be what you get by using a touchscreen device.
Laziridis called the user interface "the biggest step forward for the Blackberry experience in our history." He gushed, "It's novel yet still instantly recognisable to anyone who'd fallen in love with the Blackberry experience."
Loosely translated, it is the same as it was but it's good for those who find ordinary keyboards taxing.
We are not sure what the dancing headless woman in a suit has to do with it, but then we never got what the dancing baby was all about in Ally McBeal, either. µ
Please, someone stop them from trying to make "cool" videos to hawk their crap to the younger generation. The new OS looks good, but then I didn't see very much wrong with the old one. Good to see that they aren't twiddling their thumbs, but not everything has to be like an iPhone. Next time just show off the OS and don't try so hard to be "cool."
