GRAPHICS CARD MAKER Sapphire has announced that it will be shipping the "fastest graphics card - ever", which it calls the HD5970 4G Toxic.
The card will be based on AMD's dual GPU ATI Radeon HD5970 with 4GB of GDDR5 RAM. So far, HD5970 boards have typically had only 2GB of RAM.
Given the power dissipation of this beast, with testers recording system power draw in the region of 500 watts, Sapphire has opted for Accelero three-fan cooling from Arctic Cooling.
Most reviewers agree that AMD's Radeon HD5970 is pretty much the fastest card out there at the moment, but Sapphire's claim that this card will be the fastest remains in doubt until the card becomes available and is benchmarked. After all, many other add-in board vendors have access to the same ATI Radeon 5000 series GPU chips and reference card designs from AMD.
The inclusion of an extra 2GB of GDDR5 will help in multi-monitor, high resolution setups but for the majority of users the extra RAM will simply give them a useless number to brag about.
Sapphire's HD5970 4G Toxic will have a GPU clock speed of 900MHz while the RAM will be clocked at 1.2GHz for an effective speed of 4.8GHz.
Sapphire has not announced pricing or a release date yet. µ

Couple of these in crossfire and you don't need to turn on the heater next winter. with a bit of PC around, you get an easy 1200W, which is enough for most rooms and appartments.
Summer, on the other hand...
Sapphire made a monster ;)
It looks good for multimonitor & 2560x1600 resolutions and even for the future proof for which high-end cards are great for, but the price will for sure be for the high-end :D
But if they make a reasonable sounding cooling it'll sell.
