Barrett backs Fiorina

Intel and HP who would have thunk it
Tue Apr 06 2010, 10:41

FORMER TERROR, er, CEO of HP, Carly Fiorina has found an ally in her fight to get the Republican US Senate nomination in California.

While pushing her image as a hardnosed, effective business person, Fiorina found herself on the back foot when the granddaughter of HP co-founder David Packard sharply criticized Fiorina's tenure at HP and conservative credentials.

However this week former Intel Chairman and CEO Craig Barrett waded into the argument saying that one of Fiorina's most controversial moves as HP's chief, which was the company's merger with rival computer maker Compaq, turned out to be an unqualified success. That is the sort of success which does not have to go to college, we guess.

Barrett said that while "there were plenty of skeptics to the bold actions taken by HP," including members of the Hewlett family, Fiorina helped transform HP into the largest computer manufacturer in the world.

Fiorina "deserves great credit for her actions while CEO of HP," Barrett enthused. Strangely he failed to mention her tough anti-smoking policy which we thought would have gone down well in California.

Fiorina faces Tom Campbell and Chuck DeVore in the June Republican primary. The winner will take on Democratic Senator Barbara Boxer in November. µ

Fiorina Is Not The Right Choice

Mr.Craig Barrett failed to mention the 45 plus million she got as a personal bonus for destroying Compaq.
I live in the city where the legal battle was fought and during the course of her stay in our time she showed her true colors. This is one arrogant nasty women. She would be the Republican version of Nasty Nancy Pelosi.
When questioned by a local attorney her response was, "How dare you speak to me in that manner, I am the CEO of a Major corporation".
This woman should be trashed as soon as possible, at least as soon as Nasty Nancy.

Biz Leader? NOT!

In July 1999 when Carly took over, HP stock was at $55. In just 5 years she drove it down to around $20 (Jan 05). That's the "Carly factor".

@mogwai

I seem to recall Obama winning the election with a statistically significant majority - unlike his immediate predecessor, the warmonger from the right.

issues

Does anybody know where she stands on any issues? According to Frank Donatelli, she appears to have the correct perspectives. If he is to be believed, she would never allow CIFTA to pass the senate and thats the 2nd biggest issue right now with that pretender and his henchgirl Hillary running around.

Destroy the competition

Notice how Carly successfully reduced the number of choices consumers have, while outsourcing the living crap out of tens of thousands of employees, and driving the stock into the ground.

Fiorina is a dispicable backstabber

She sold out her own employees by outsourcing their jobs it India and China. Lied to them about it while she was doing it. At the same time buying a fleet of new Gulfstream jets to replace the existing four year old ones while.

Is this the kind of person who should represent the people?! She should be put in jail or dragged out of her mansion and shot.

Authorities in several countries raided Megaupload recently, shut down all of its services, seized hundreds of servers and arrested several of its executives on criminal charges.

Do you think the move was justified?
