MAKER OF EXPENSIVE PRINTER INK HP has added three Proliant G7 servers to its portfolio.
HP claimed these Proliant G7 models were developed to provide a performance boost and better power savings over their predecessors. The three models are the HP Proliant DL165 G7, HP Proliant DL385 G7 rack-optimised servers, and HP ProLiant SL165z G7 scale-out "skinless" server.
All will use AMD Opteron 6100 Series processors. HP believes the operational efficiencies in the servers means they will pay for themselves in as little as two months, based on its benchmark comparison of a ProLiant DL380 G4 to a DL385 G7.
HP proprietary technology in these G7 servers includes Thermal Logic which reduces power consumption, Sea of Sensors which auto tracks thermal activity through 32 sensors that auto adjust components to reduce energy usage, Dynamic Power Capping which improves data centre utilisation and Power Advisor which configures systems based on real-time power guidance for specific workloads.
HP will launch these three Proliant G7 models worldwide next month with the minimum configurations selling for £960 in the US. HP hasn't set UK prices yet but they are unlikely to be lower. µ
