Asustek and AMD are going big in China
TAIWANESE PC COMPONENT MAKER Asustek and AMD have announced that they will cooperate to compete for the huge mainland China Internet café hardware market.
AMD's desktop platform has advantages in China's Internet cafe market and the company is expected to further expand its market share in China through the cooperation, Asustek said in a statement.
However Intel stole a march on the pair by having already put a similar business plan in place. It teamed up with Elitegroup Computer Systems to do exactly the same thing.
What is strange about this announcement by Asustek is that its partnership with AMD was announced today, although AMD had said it was moving into the Internet cafe world in 2006. Its announcement was followed by the one from Intel and Elite a few months later.
In two years time nothing seems to have happened and we wonder what Chinese Internet cafés are running at the moment. µ

Since all Asus newest mobos choose to use a SATA3 6G controller chip that is an older version NEC and does not support any RAID.
I will have to get a Gigabyte mobo that does use the newer NEC SATA3 controller that DOES support RAID.
Asus has a history of delivering half-baked products in their rush to be first to market. There have no customer support. They ignore confirmed products defects by numerous website hardware reviewers. They supply special BIOS to certain fanboy websites to get rave product reviews but don't provide the same BIOS to consumers. The list goes on so it's unfortunate that AMD has teamed up with Asus because most people who've been in the PC Biz for a few years know how inferior Asus products can be. AMD needs to team up with a reputable mobo company, not the technically challenged folks at Asus.
I'm not so sure i agree with you Billy Boy, If Asus's gear is such crap, as you say, who's gear would you rank as being good?

In all reality the the fact that Intel teamed up with ECS (which is short for Extremely Crappy Shit) is laughable, but AMD + Asustek = winning combination.
I've built well over 100 boxed in the last year using AMD CPU's exclusively, with probably 90+% running Asus boards and the rest Gigabyte. of the dozen or so Gigabyte boards i've used, i've had 4 come back at me. 25%, this is a marked improvement over years past, in the pat, before Gigabyte resolved to become Asus and were just another random board builder, i experienced failure rates in the 70 to 80% range over time.
Out of the 90+ Asus boards i've used over the past year, i've RMA'd 2 boards, bringing the lifetime total to 3, however, of the 2 RMA's i did, only one was a legitimate RMA, it had twitching graphics, the other one, after RMAing it, i later discovered to be my fault, i bent a pin on the CPU.
So make all the claims you will about the quality of Asus, or lack there of, but i have to disagree with you.
...AMD's sales, it would be Asustek. IMO the crap Asus has been selling in recent years has proven to be their downfall and they could take AMD with them.

Today, inernet mixer with lappy, at local store, let 'Em learn, get out & about, stay cheap & worthless, maybe meet right combo of local support, doubtful, as people are narrrow & havn't clue, exept IT shines 7 want it, ALL of IT.
