Opera Mini 5 beta is out on Android

Could be good for both

THE OPERA MINI web browser will be available on Android mobiles, Reuters reports.

Opera is the browser of choice for phones so it makes sense that the company is releasing a beta version of Opera Mini 5 for Google's Android OS, which is picking up a good share of the smartphone market.

The company claims that its Opera Mini 5 beta for Android can compress data by up to 90 per cent, which promises to make it well optimised for low-bandwidth connections. It will also include a password manager for social networking and other websites, speed dial, tabbed browsing and Opera Link. This synchronises bookmarks and speed dial between your mobile phone and a desktop computer.

Opera Mini 5 launched late last year on Crackberrys and the company demoed an Iphone version at Mobile World Congress last month. It is also available on Windows Mobile 5 or 6 but apparently has not appeared yet for Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 Series OS.

We don't know when the final version will be out but you can download and install the beta of Opera Mini 5 now and that's here. µ
