Judge puts Apple-Nokia case on hold

This one will run and run

A JUDGE has put the Apple and Nokia legal battle on hold.

The move is to give the feds a chance to investigate the matter, which involves patent infringement claims from both Nokia and Apple.

The US International Trade Commission (ITC) is investigating Jobs' Mob's patent infringement complaint against Nokia as the legal handbags at dawn battle gets bogged down in knee deep mud.

It all started in October 2009, when Nokia sued Apple claiming that Apple infringed ten of its patents without paying for them.

When Nokia approached Cupertino with licensing terms, it was told that Steve Jobs invented everything including the wheel and fire and it would have to pay him instead.

Apple countersued Nokia, asking the ITC to block Nokia from selling some of its mobile models in the US, claiming that Nokia infringed nine of its patents.

Both companies have accused the other of wasting the court's time and have categorically denied any infringement. However exploiting the bizarre US patent system has become all the rage for companies seeking to crush their competition.

Since all tech companies have a few patents up their sleeves those act as a deterrent against other companies suing them for patent infringement. When they think they have more cards then their rival then they play their hand and sue. µ
