Asus touts Eee PCs at CeBIT

Three fourth generation models revealed

TAIWANESE HARDWARE HOUSE Asus launched a raft of consumer products at CeBIT today, including its fourth generation Eee PCs.

The new Asus portfolio is too big to list in one news item so we've stuck with the launches that should pique your interest.

Asus is on its fourth iteration of the Eee PC and unveiled three of the little netbooks.

The Eee PC 1015 is an update to the Eee PC Seashell range and Asus claims it has a 14-hour battery life. We'll be sure to see how close we get to that when we get our mitts on one for review.

The Eee PC Diary 1016P has a touchpad integrated into the palm-rest and is aimed at mobile professionals.

The Eee PC Prime 1018P is the thinnest Eee PC ASUS has ever produced and features USB 3.0, a fingerprint reader and an aluminium case with a choice of four colours.

In addition, ASUS showcased its latest Republic of Gamers (ROG) laptops for gamers that it had announced late last year. The G51JX 3D is one of the first laptops to sport Nvidia Geforce 3D Vision technology and eye-popping HD screen displays. µ

Thanks for posting all of the pictures with this article. Reading a description of a netbook is so much better than actually seeing it - that way, it can look like anything I want it to.

The computer might be cool, but the support is a failure

Hope you never have any problems with ASUS, as their newly launched 1005 Netbook line will leave you disappointed. As part of my normal business process I purchased a machine from BestBuy. ASUS refuses to support a manufacturing defect, basically insisting that the only option is mailing it back to them, leaving the business traveler strandard without a machine.

For a machine marketed towards "business people" on "business travels" and a VIP support plan that claims to cover "anything" for 60 days, plus 1 year on the machine itself from fault, they will do nothing for you.

Customer service for business customers means prompt, reliable support to get you back to work asap. Customer service from ASUS means they assume you're liar and will expect you to pay for priority, insured mail to and from them via FEDEX/UPS.

The ASUS EEE netbook is a new product, so no third party support or accessories will work. Save your self the headache and buy a machine from a reputable company with a good support history.

The ASUS EEE product line looks sharp, has a nice battery, and claims to offer free VIP support. Pure marketing garbage as they fail to support any of their claims with action.

From this reviewers perspective: Avoid ASUS, go elsewhere for your computing needs.
