AS WE REPORTED last week, Acer is set to the one if the first maufacturers to make use of Nvidia's next generation Ion chip.

At a recent event in London we got a quick hands on with the Acer Aspire 532G, which features Optimus which promises painless switchable graphics, helping to balance performance and battery life. The demo shows how a regular Pine Trail based netbook struggles with a 720p video streamed from Youtube, however the Acer handles it smoothly.

A slew of other manufacturers are set to announce their own next-gen Ion products at CeBit in Hangover, er, Hannover next week. µ
