Twitter makes a deal with Yahoo

Real time search results

SOCIAL NOTWORKING SITE Twitter and Yahoo have joined forces in an attempt to actually make some money.

Under the agreement the two services will become more tightly integrated, giving Yahoo users access to their Twitterings from the Yahoo home page as well as Mail, Sports and others.

The twits will also be able to shout out to friends, family and anyone who'll listen about all the neat stuff they find on Yahoo.

Most importantly for the two companies involved, Yahoo Search and Yahoo media properties like News, Finance, Entertainment and Sports will include real-time public Twitter updates across a variety of topics.

According to Twitter co-founder Biz Stone: "The information in one single tweet can travel light-years farther with this Yahoo integration."

The partnership makes sense as Twitter is assumedly getting a slice of the revenue from Yahoo links, while Yahoo hopefully regains some search engine market share by more tightly integrating social networking, both with real-time results from Twitter and allowing users to tweet directly from Yahoo.

The real-time Search integration is available immediately. Other parts of the integration are expected to launch later this year. µ
