the powers that be obviously dont give a hoot about the opinion of its loyal base of readers as there has been nothing but silence since the poll got closed...
is that the sound of the inq staff sticking their heads in the sand and shouting "lalalala" hoping that it will all go away?
The inquirer has really gone downhill, this layout really sucks. I hope they fix it! There are more ads on the first page of this site then all of engadget + tomshardware combined. This site reminds me of what happened to tomshardware. When they changed over to the layout I stopped going to their site. I guess it's time to move on.
Bet 10 bucks that most of those registrations are from domain parking companies like GoDaddy and sedoparking. These guys register hundreds of catchy domain names and keep them idle, just so they can sell them to users for an increased price sometime in the future (or even worse, for a monthly fee).
ICANN has admitted that GoDaddy, Sedoparking and the related net mobsters are among their biggest registrars, so these guys are not even trying to hide.
I REALLY can't believe people are actually making business with these dorks (they recently have become so rich they can even afford to sponsor indy car drivers).
Do all these users even bother to ask what will happen to their domain name in case they decide to switch to another hosting company? (GoDaddy also does hosting). Answer: GoDaddy will keep your domain name and fill it with ads, and then you will have to find another domain name and regain all your visitors from scratch.
But I guess that such a forward looking thinking is waay beyond Average Joe...
PS: For the smart people among us, always make sure you own the domain name.
