UK TV AND RADIO INSTITUTION the BBC has announced that lucky punters, slaves to fashion and gadget junkies will be able to avoid the experience of watching football on a large screen by watching it on an Iphone.
The BBC has decided to spoil train journeys everywhere by turning the bloke you sit next to into a whooping, jumping git that yells everytime someone chucks the ball in the direction of the onion bag.
As an outsider this may ruin your plans to get home and watch the match without knowing the score, but as a user it will put you at the heart of the action. Well, more like at the keyhole of the action, given the size of the available screen.
The BBC said today that it will make all of the games it is showing during the world cup this year available to Iphone users, and will add more programming from April when the service goes live.
Other programming will include news and shows from the BBC's Iplayer online service will also make their way onto the application. Formula One will be added to the sports broadcasts later this year.
The announcement was made at Barcelona's Mobile World Congress, where the BBC explained that the app will be free.
Other versions for the Blackberry and Google Android devices will follow. µ
